STACEY LANE is a self-taught artist who resides in
Southern California. Her talents consist of
residential and commercial murals, faux finish
designs, custom paintings and portraits, and now story
and illustrations for her proposed book series, The
Adventures of Skinny Miss S. with her debut book
entitled, Skinny Miss S. Was Very Depressed.
The concept behind the book series is that of a confused, but ever evolving girl who demonstrates symptoms of very real and debilitating illnesses of the mind. The vision and execution of Skinny Miss S. was only possible because her creator is a survivor of
mental illness and an eating disorder as well. |

Stacey was diagnosed with Clinical Depression in
adolescence, with Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression)
in her early twenties, and Anorexia by her late
twenties, although she had learned to restrict her
eating from the young age of two years old. Now in
her thirties she has put her creativity and healing to
use by delivering her story through way of
children-like books filled with color and emotion,
coupled with erythematic poetry to bring to life her
vision of “picture books for the depressed inner
child of any age who seeks understanding and relief
from their current state of mind.”
Skinny Miss S. was born in the mist of a deep
depressive daydream over ten years ago. It's safe to
say Skinny Miss S. Was Very Depressed is based on a
true story, after all, this author's favorite pastimes
are telling stories…and telling the truth. When asked
if
Skinny Miss S. is her, Stacey has resolved to
answer, “Yes, and no. When I write for Skinny, she
has always been her own entity, but I wouldn't know
how to write for her if I didn't know her story.
Maybe that shows how removed from myself I become with
the reminder of those dark and frightening days.”
Stacey has also dedicated time to becoming a Certified
Life Coach. Coaching recovering and medicated persons
with Depression, Bipolar, or Eating Disorders, she has
helped clients through the adjustments necessary to
create awareness, acceptance and healing in respect to
their condition.
Miss Lane hopes Skinny Miss S. will stir hearts and of
course, touch minds.
